The Interview Transcript
Startup Journal: What was your secret to successfully listing on the public stock exchange in a skeptical market?
Ghazal Alagh:Predictable, transparent unit economics and demonstrating that our growth was not purely digital marketing arbitrage. Proving that Indian consumers in Kanpur, Indore, and Salem were buying our products from local kirana shelves gave institutional investors confidence.
Startup Journal: How do you evaluate which new categories or brands to launch next?
Ghazal Alagh:We listen obsessively to social comments and search trends. When thousands of consumers asked for clean dermatologist-formulated active niacinamide solutions, we built The Derma Co. Listen to what consumers are already struggling with.
